Charcoal & Clove Tooth Powder (with activated charcoal) is a toothpaste replacement, OR can be sprinkled on top of one's usual toothpaste to add to its potency, OR can help one transition from their usual toothpaste to a toothpowder as another way to help rid ourselves of unnecessary product chemicals.

This formula includes warming herbs to increase blood flow/circulation to the gums, astringent herbs to help draw out microbes and tighten gums around teeth, anti-inflammatory herbs to reduce inflammation, analgesic herbs to reduce pain, detoxifying herbs to kill a variety of microbes, and fresh, cooling herbs for leaving the mouth feeling clean. With regular use, tooth powders will work to improve overall dental health. The inclusion of activated charcoal in this formula will further work to whiten yellowed or stained teeth.

Suggested use: traditionally tooth powders are rubbed across teeth and gums using one's finger or a soft (we do not recommend using a hard bristle tooth brush - this will be too hard on the gums) or natural brush, much like one would use a toothbrush. These powders are also used as a tooth pack, or poultice for a sore tooth, cavity, bleeding gums, or other dental related malaise. Finish by oil pulling with some coconut or sesame oil, and/or by using our Sage & Mint Mouth Rinse

  • Comes in a glass jar as 1.7 ounces (50 ml) only.

Overall energetics: warming / cooling, astringent

Parts of the Whole: Emblica officinalis, Terminalia bellirica, Terminalia chebula (organic triphala/three berries: amalaki, bibhitaki, haritaki), Cinnamomum verum (organic cinnamon), Syzygium aromaticum (organic clove), Echinacea angustifolia (organic echinacea), Commiphora myrrha (wildcrafted myrrh), activated charcoal (food grade), Glycyrrhiza glabra (organic licorice), bentonite clay

Activated charcoal (food grade): has been used for oral health and care to treat pain, inflammation, to pull toxins and to help whiten teeth. It is used both internally and externally as a general purifier. Activated charcoal can also change the pH of one's mouth, reducing cavities and gingivitis.

Triphala (amlaki, haritaki & bibhitaki): is a combination of three berries commonly used as medicine in India. This blend is very high in vitamin C - it is a lacking of vitamin C that is a primary contributor to gum disease. Its astringency is high and therefore makes for a very effective ingredient in tooth powders as well as ingested medicines.

Bentonite clay: comes from volcanic ash, sourced in the United States. It is used to help bind toxins, making them more soluble, as well as to treat mineral deficiencies. Bentonite is considered the most effective healing clay one can find.

Myrrh: is antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, great for digestion, is warming and used to relieve arthritis in cold joints. Myrrh resin is very soothing to and healing of damaged or inflamed skin.

Clove: these dried flower buds were used in the Middle Ages to combat plague and to cure impotence. Today they are used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation. The oil is a strong anesthetic and antiseptic and is commonly used to numb gums for dentistry procedures.

Cinnamon: this bark is nourishing, warming, nausea-relieving, antibacterial,  and has been successfully used to treat menstrual cramp pains. Cinnamon has also been utilized to lower a high blood pressure.

Echinacea: is a North American native, used at length by American Indians. The first written account of its use described echinacea as a topical remedy to help horses. It is also described as having the ability to remedy ailments more than any other plant, being used by a large variety of Native American tribes to treat anything from swelling to horse distemper. Echinacea's traditional use included a support for the immune system, and a topical remedy for infection.

Licorice: adds a bit of sweetness to this formula. It is  anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-inflammatory. It also is a cortisol mimic and therefore aids the body in treating skin irritation and allergic reaction. Contraindication: although the amount of licorice in this formula is very small, this root is not meant to be taken internally for persons with high blood pressure.
