Propolis: is a sticky resin created by bees as they collect resins from plant flowers and leaves. Propolis serves as a natural and highly effective "chemical weapon" against infection. It is highly antioxidant and anti-microbial, and is used by around the world for an astonishing range of health conditions. Additionally, it is anti-inflammatory, increases circulation, and is plaque reducing.

Plantain: is medically approved for inflammation of the oral and pharyngeal mucosa and is also topically used to treat cuts, bug bites, wounds, hemorrhoids, neuralgic conditions, bruises and stings. It is helpful in reducing infection and swelling.

Oregon grape: has long been used by Pacific Northwest indigenous peoples as an antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and to treat disorders of the liver and skin.

Sage: is fantastic at healing infected gums, mouth ulcers, dental abscesses, throat sores and is astringent and tightening of the gums in general. It is also anti-inflammatory making it a great addition to a mouth rinse for this reason as well.

Echinacea: is a North American native, used at length by American Indians. The first written account of its use described echinacea as a topical remedy to help horses. It is also described as having the ability to remedy ailments more than any other plant, being used by a large variety of Native American tribes to treat anything from swelling to horse distemper. Echinacea's traditional use included a support for the immune system, and a topical remedy for infection.

Red root: is astringent, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and is often used to treat the lymphatic system as a blood mover. Its astringency can be used in oral care to tighten gums and stop mouth bleeding while the anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties also make this herb appropriate in treating the teeth and gums for a variety of dental health issues.

Peppermint: is a cool, refreshing flavor and aroma, commonly used in herbal teas, toothpastes, desserts, chewing gum, and cocktails. Peppermint helps to kill those germs that may lead to halitosis, leaving one's breath fresh and clean. It is said to invigorate and increase one's productivity - some companies in Japan are known to pump peppermint aroma through the AC system to give their worker's a more competitive edge. According to Greek mythology, Menthe was punished by being turned into a peppermint plant when Proserpine went into a  jealous rage, and found out that Pluto was in love with her. Even earlier than this, peppermint was used by the Assyrians as an offering to the fire god.
